More than 4 km of the coast has already been treated in Kuban after the accident with tankers, the length of oil-contaminated areas does not exceed 35 km. This was reported on December 17 by Andrei Potakhov, acting head of the EMERCOM of Russia in Krasnodar Krai.

"At the moment, more than 4 kilometers have been treated, if we look at several sites," he said in comments to TASS.

According to Potakhov, fuel oil is located in pockets on the contaminated territory. At the same time, cleaning is complicated by a storm that continues to bring fuel oil from the sea, so in some areas it may be necessary to conduct it repeatedly.

On the eve of the Governor of the Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratiev said that in four settlements of the Kuban after the spill of oil products introduced a regime of heightened readiness. The next day it became known that oil products after the accident with tankers washed ashore for dozens of kilometers, and in two municipalities of the region introduced a state of emergency. By now, specialists have determined the algorithm of cleaning works.

Earlier, on December 15, tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" suffered a disaster in the Kerch Strait due to bad weather. As a result, there was a spill of oil products. The tankers ran aground.

The first vessel evacuated 13 people: one of them died, 11 were injured. In turn, all 14 crew members were evacuated from the tanker Volgoneft-239 on Monday. Two criminal cases were opened over the incident, one of which was reclassified as more serious.
