The algorithm of utilization of fuel oil spilled in Kuban has been determined and worked out, the governor of Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratiev said on Tuesday, December 17.

"From the ground reported to Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev about the situation. At the moment, the accumulation of oil products is concentrated in three places - on the coastlines of the settlements of Veselovka and Vityazevo, as well as the village of Blagoveshchenskaya. Operational headquarters are deployed here, intensive work is underway to eliminate fuel oil thrown out of the water area. The algorithm of its utilization has already been determined and worked out," he wrote in Telegram-channel.

According to Kondratyev, the entire coastal zone affected by the incident was divided into sectors with the assignment of those responsible for monitoring the situation. In case of detection of oil products in new centers the grouping will be expanded.

At the moment EMERCOM employees and volunteers are working on the site, the work of headquarters is coordinated by the heads of municipalities, said the head of the region.

He expressed his gratitude to everyone who voluntarily arrives at the sites of emergency response to help preserve the ecology of the region.

On the eve Kondratiev reported that in four settlements of Kuban after the spill of oil products the regime of increased readiness was introduced. On Tuesday, he specified that oil products after the accident with tankers were carried ashore for dozens of kilometers. Following this, two municipalities of the Krasnodar region introduced a state of emergency.

Earlier, on December 15, tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" suffered a disaster in the Kerch Strait due to bad weather. There were strong squally winds and sea excitement up to 7 points in that area. As a result of the wreck there was a spill of oil products. The tankers ran aground. The Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol reported that more than 50 people and 11 units of equipment were involved in the elimination of the incident.

From the first ship evacuated 13 people: one of them died, 11 were injured. In turn, all 14 crew members were evacuated from the tanker "Volgoneft-239" on Monday. Two criminal cases were opened over the incident, one of which was reclassified as more serious.

Russian Natural Resources and Environment Minister Alexander Kozlov said it was too early to say how much oil products had fallen into the sea. According to him, some of the fuel oil remains in tankers, which are on the seabed, and because of the temperature conditions, the fuel oil is on the bottom. Divers will examine the remains of the vessels and give their conclusion.
