Polish border guard seized 44 liters of liquid cocaine in wine boxes

The Pomeranian Department of the Polish Border Guard seized liquid cocaine worth $1.85 million from intruders in Lublin Voivodeship, the agency reported on its website on December 17.

"44 liters of liquid cocaine worth about 7.5 million zlotys (about $1.85 million - Ed.) on the black market, hidden in wine boxes, were seized in Lublin voivodeship by officers of the Pomeranian department of the Border Guard," the agency said in a statement.

It added that the operation involved the Customs Service of the Czech Republic. The drug shipment was loaded on a container ship in Panama, and in Poland was to get through one of the European ports and the Czech city of Ostrava.

Two residents of Lubelskie Voivodeship and a man from Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship were detained. They were charged with participation in an organized criminal group and drug smuggling. The suspects were arrested and face a prison term of three to 20 years. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier, on November 6, in the port of Algeciras in Spain, police seized more than 13 tons of cocaine, which was transported in a container with bananas, which arrived from Ecuador. This mass of drugs was a record for Spain and is the second largest in Europe. During the operation, five searches were carried out and one person was detained, while several others are wanted.
