Military analyst calls Kiev's statement about laser weapons production a fake

Ukraine could not have secretly developed the Trident laser weapon; information about it would have become known at the time of production. Even if Kiev has such equipment, it will not help it turn the tide of the conflict. Military analyst and political scientist Vadim Mingalev shared this opinion with Izvestia on December 17.
The fact that Ukraine now has its own laser weapon Trident, which can shoot down airplanes, was reported by Strana.ua the day before, citing Vadim Sukharevsky, commander of the unmanned systems forces of the country's armed forces (AFU). The official said that the range of the Trident is 2 kilometers.
"Let's frankly say that this, to put it mildly, technology is a fake. Fake of this plan: no Ukrainian production of laser "Trident" does not exist. This technology is on the territory of the Anglo-Saxon world," Mingalev commented.
According to him, Ukraine is trying to pass off wishful thinking as wishful thinking, but the inconsistencies are obvious to experts - such a range of the weapon raises questions, as the laser beam tends to disperse. It will be impossible to damage the equipment or "pierce" it at such a distance. In addition, to create a two-kilometer beam would require a large generator, the size of a railcar, which also could not go unnoticed, said the interlocutor of the publication.
He also suggested that in this way Kiev may try to tempt Moscow to more favorable terms of negotiations. However, Mingalev stressed that Ukrainian officials do not understand that Russia will not engage in a dialog with representatives of the current Kiev regime. Especially since Kiev has itself banned the negotiation process with Moscow, he summarized.
"Kiev is trying to make a good face at a bad game. Such was the case with the British Dragonfair laser weapon. If Trident exists, it is actually Dragonfire - American technology with British manufacturing. There will be no impact on the course and outcome of the conflict in Ukraine from this weapon, even if it does exist. Ukraine is doomed, and no Trident will help it anymore," the analyst concluded.
Before that, on November 14 last year, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevhen Shevchenko said that the former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, Valeriy Zaluzhny, had told the country's president Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20) about his idea to create an army of robot soldiers. According to the MP, Zaluzhny saw such technologies at an exhibition in New York and hastened to inform the Ukrainian leader that the Ukrainian Armed Forces needed them.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
