Residents of Transbaikalia collected 700 kg of change during Coin Week

Residents of the Trans-Baikal Territory within the framework of the event "Coin Week" handed in 480 thousand pieces to banks in the amount of 173 thousand rubles. The weight of the collected change amounted to 690 kg, reports the press service of the Chita branch of the Bank of Russia.

As explained in the credit organization, it is not necessary to wait for special days of acceptance of coins, because money should always work. Coins can be realized in many ways - for example, buy something in stores, give it to charity or credit it to your account.

In 2024, the Chita Datsan took part in the action, writes IA ChitaMedia. There collected coins that believers left in places of worship. In total they managed to collect 13 thousand coins. According to the results of calculations it was possible to return a little more than 5 thousand rubles into circulation. Among the collected copies counted 7.5 thousand pieces of 10 kopecks and 1060 pieces of five-kopecks.

The second "Coin Week" in 2024 was held from October 7 to 20 in all regions of Russia. Everyone who wished to do so could bring the change accumulated at home to the bank branches and deposit the money to an account or exchange it for banknotes without a fee.

Earlier in December, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Sergei Belov said in an interview with "Izvestia" that the corrected modernized thousand-dollar banknote is likely to be put into circulation closer to the end of 2025. He also said whether the discussion on the abolition of cash will start and whether there is relevance in the 10-thousand bill.
