Chelsea FC have confirmed Mudrick's failed doping test


English soccer club (FC) Chelsea confirmed on Tuesday, December 17, on its official website the positive results of a doping test of the team's Ukrainian midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk.
"Chelsea Football Club can confirm that the Football Association of England (FA) has recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk regarding an adverse finding in a routine urine test," the statement read.
"Chelsea noted that the player is regularly doping tested and has categorically denied deliberately using banned substances.
The club will cooperate with the relevant authorities to find out the reasons for the positive sample results.
Mudryk moved to Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023. This year, the footballer took part in 15 matches in all club tournaments.
The last time Mudryk was on the field on December 1 in the match against Aston Villa. Since then, the midfielder has missed four Chelsea matches.
Earlier in the day, Tribuna reported that the Ukrainian midfielder Chelsea failed a doping test. It was specified that the 23-year-old footballer passed the sample "A" back in October, which gave a positive result for the presence of a banned substance. Now the athlete faces disqualification for four years in case of a second positive result.
