There were 347 traffic accidents in Russia over the past day


Over the past 24 hours, 347 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 35 people were killed and 430 injured. 27 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Tuesday, December 17, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 121 accidents involving pedestrians, eight people were killed, another 119 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 24 child pedestrians, 15 of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of pedestrian accidents, 64 occurred at crosswalks and 57 outside of them.
With the participation of buses on Monday recorded 26 accidents in which one person died, another 31 required medical attention. The cause of 12 accidents with buses was the violation of traffic rules by their drivers. With the participation of minors 37 accidents were registered, as a result of which 38 young road users were injured, including 12 passengers. No children were killed.
Due to adverse weather conditions in the form of snow, snowstorms and gusty winds in the Orenburg region from the evening of December 16, traffic on the 90-kilometer section of the federal highway M-5 "Ural" (access to the checkpoint "Orsk") from the 170th to 260th km is temporarily stopped. In Krasnoyarsk region due to snowfall, snowstorms, wind and visibility restrictions traffic is also temporarily stopped from the 5th to the 22nd km of the regional highway from the city to the airport of Norilsk.
In the Samara region, for the same reasons, traffic restrictions have been imposed on buses and trucks on the section of the M-5 "Ural" federal highway from the 98th to 129th km. Temporary restrictions on the movement of vehicles of the same categories due to bad weather were also imposed on certain sections of federal highways in the Republics of Karelia and Bashkortostan, as well as in the Orenburg region.
The State Automobile Inspectorate urged motorists in these regions to follow the weather forecast and media reports from the places of road closures or traffic restrictions when planning long-distance trips. If possible, personal vehicles should not be used until weather conditions improve.

Due to frequent snowfall, blizzards, icing on the roadway, reduced daylight hours and limited visibility, it is necessary to strictly observe the speed limit and distance, as well as avoid dangerous maneuvers and driving on the lane of oncoming traffic even in places permitted for this purpose", - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the propaganda department of the State Automobile Inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
On December 12, the State Duma passed a bill to increase a number of fines for traffic violations, the amendments should come into force on January 1, 2025. In particular, for speeding 20-40 km / h (the most common violation of the rules) the fine will be 750 rubles instead of 500 rubles. The maximum fine for speeding (80 km/h and above) will increase from Br5 thousand to Br7.5 thousand.
