"Donbass Dome" thwarted an AFU terrorist attack on a shopping center in Makeyevka

The Donbass Dome air defense and electronic warfare (EW) system foiled a terrorist attack on a shopping center in Makeyevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). This was reported on December 17 in the FSSB of Russia in the region.

It is specified that the "Dome of Donbass" intercepted a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of aircraft type, armed with an explosive device and aimed at blowing up the shopping center "Galaxy". The drone was defused with the participation of explosive technicians of the FSSB of Russia in the DNR, who eliminated military charges at a specialized testing ground.

"Thanks to the professional actions of our defenders, there were no casualties among civilians and damage to critical infrastructure," the agency said.

Earlier, on December 16, Oksana Semesenko, an official representative of the Russian Federal Security Service's directorate of the DNR, said that during the past week the Donbass Dome system had detected and intercepted 138 Ukrainian UAVs in the skies above Donetsk and Makeyevka.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been shelling the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, as well as Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions, on a daily basis amid a special operation to protect Donbas, the start of which was announced by Russia on February 24, 2022.
