The State Duma proposed to fine Russians for giving alcohol as a gift

The State Duma proposed to introduce fines of up to Br100 thousand for the gift of alcohol on holidays. This was reported on December 17 by the State Duma deputy from LDPR Andrei Svintsov.
"It's time to introduce tough and uncompromising propaganda against alcohol! And it should begin with the fact that every citizen of our country must understand: algogol is a poison!" - Svintsov said in his Telegram channel.
According to the deputy, giving alcohol, which causes enormous harm to health, is unacceptable.
Svintsov proposes to fine citizens for "alcoholic gifts" by 5 thousand rubles, and for officials - by 35-50 thousand rubles, for legal entities - by 100 thousand rubles.
"The bill proposes to introduce a ban on the gift of alcoholic and alcohol-containing products, and instead it is proposed to make gifts, exclusively in the form of positive, bearing benefit things. For example, it can be a season ticket to the gym, a certificate for additional education, tickets to movies, museums and theaters, informative books, useful food, flowers, children's toys, household goods, souvenirs made by their own hands, associated with common memories - all that will really bring people joy and pleasure," - stated in the explanatory note to the bill.
Before that, on October 31, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation supported the initiatives of regional authorities to limit the sale of alcohol. As Deputy Head of the Department of Risk Factor Prevention and Communication Technologies in Healthcare of the Central Research Institute of Organization and Informatization of Healthcare of the Russian Ministry of Health Viktor Zykov noted, alcohol abuse is one of the causes of chronic diseases and early death.
Earlier, on October 29, the governor of the Vologda region Georgy Filimonov said that the region plans to limit the sale of alcohol to two hours a day. Thus, from March 1, 2025, alcohol may start selling from 12:00 to 14:00 on weekdays, and the usual mode will remain on weekends and holidays. Filimonov explained such a decision by the high mortality rate of the population in the region.
On the same day, the head of the Sverdlovsk region's parliament, Lyudmila Babushkina, said that the regional authorities were considering the introduction of a complete ban on the sale of alcohol in the region.
