Janis Timma's ex-coach called his death a great loss for basketball

The death of Latvian basketball player Janis Timma, former husband of Anna Sedokova, is a great loss for the sport and for Latvia. Rimas Kurtinaitis, the former coach of the athlete in the Moscow Region club Khimki, told Izvestia on Tuesday, December 17.

"Timma had such a good view of the world. <...> Janis was very open. A good person. These things happen. It's a great loss for world basketball and also for Latvia," he said.

Kurtinaitis admitted that he spoke to Timma not as a player, but as a friend. The last time they talked was five years ago. The specialist emphasized that Timma was a good basketball player.

December 17, it became known that Janis Timma committed suicide in Moscow. It is noted that on his phone was a screensaver with the inscription "Call Anna" and her phone number.

The singer herself, commenting on what happened, said that in recent years "lived in hell". She also urged the public not to write about the suicide of her former spouse.
