Investigative Committee opened a case of terrorist attack and murder after the death of Gen. Kirillov

A criminal case under the articles of terrorist act and murder was initiated after the death of Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops of the Russian Armed Forces (AF), and his assistant. This was reported on December 17 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

"A criminal case is being investigated on the grounds of crimes under Articles 105, 205 and 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder, terrorist act, illegal trafficking of weapons, ammunition)," - informed the official representative of the IC of the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko.

The investigation has been put under control in the central office of the agency.

The IC also published footage of the investigative-operative group at the scene.

The death of Igor Kirillov and his assistant became known earlier in the day. The men were killed as a result of detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter, standing near the entrance. The explosion occurred near a seven-story apartment building on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow.
