Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed in an explosion on Ryazansky Avenue in Moscow. This was reported in the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on December 17.

It is noted that, according to investigators, in the morning was detonated an explosive device planted in a scooter, standing near the entrance of an apartment building.

"As a result of the incident killed the head of radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Igor Kirillov and his assistant", - said the official representative of the IC of Russia Svetlana Petrenko, her words are quoted in the Telegram-channel of the department.

She added that investigators, criminalists and operational services are working at the scene.

The explosion near a seven-story apartment building on Ryazansky Avenue became known earlier in the day. The source of "Izvestiya" reported that two people died as a result of the incident. On the fact of the incident a criminal case was initiated.

At the disposal of "Izvestia" has footage, which shows that the scene of the incident is still cordoned off. Law enforcement officials are clarifying all the circumstances. In the near future, a number of examinations will be appointed, including medical and explosive-technical.
