Three meetings between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2024 have contributed to the deepening of cooperation between the countries. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said this on December 17 during a conference on the international situation and Chinese diplomacy.
"President Xi Jinping and President Putin have met three times this year, which has further deepened the comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Russia," Wang Yi said.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also emphasized that the countries' cooperation is based on "the principles of non-adherence to blocs, non-confrontation, and non-direction against third countries." According to him, the countries' relations are not influenced by external factors.
"China and Russia will maintain a high level of strategic planning, support each other, and help each other's development and revival," Wang Yi emphasized.
In addition, the minister specified that the countries maintain close communication and coordination at multilateral platforms such as the United Nations (UN), BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The minister also noted that the countries' relations are becoming more mature and stable.
"China-Russia relations are following the strategic guidance of the heads of state, they are becoming more and more mature and stable, showing their stability, China and Russia have set a model of friendly relations between neighboring countries," Wang Yi said.
Earlier, on December 13, Alexander Daniltsev, director of the Trade Policy Institute of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, said that trade turnover between Russia and China will continue to grow, and cooperation between the countries in various areas will continue to develop. He noted that bilateral cooperation will actively develop in the field of energy.
On the same day, Russia's Foreign Ministry said it intends to strengthen dialog with China and coordination on missile aspects of strategic stability.
Before that, on December 12, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that trade turnover between Russia and China remains at a very high level despite the opposition of unfriendly states. He emphasized that the indicator at the end of 2024 will be at the level of $240 billion.
On October 16, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang that one of the priorities of Russia's foreign policy is to strengthen relations with the PRC and Mongolia. According to him, Moscow is ready to work together with these countries for common prosperity.
