After the earthquake of magnitude 7.4 off the coast of Vanuatu, a tsunami threat was announced. This was reported on December 17 in the U.S. National Weather Service(NOAA).

At the same time in the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center(EMSC) specified that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 43 km at a distance of 25 km from the city of Port Vila, which is the capital of Vanuatu. At the moment there was no information about the victims.

Earlier, on December 9, it was reported that the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred in El Salvador. The origin of the earthquake was at a depth of 15 km, 44 km to the south-east of the city of San Miguel
