Vilfand predicted a sharp drop in temperature in Moscow on December 18

On Wednesday, the temperature in the capital will drop sharply to -15...-19 degrees Celsius, and on Thursday it will return to zero. This was announced on December 17 by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.

"Literally from midnight, from the first minutes of Wednesday, the temperature will still be as high - from 0 to -2 degrees, and then will begin a sharp decline, and by the end of the day, on Wednesday, there will already be a temperature of -12 degrees", - he specified in conversation with "RIA Novosti".

The forecaster noted that the temperature will reach its minimum values on Thursday night. This is due to the fact that Moscow will be on the "crest of high pressure" between the two cyclones.

"Already in the afternoon the capital is on the western periphery of this ridge, and again southwest wind. During Thursday, the temperature will literally rise from -15...-19 for about 20 hours to zero by the end of the day," Wilfand added.

He also noted that on Friday and the weekend the temperature in Moscow will remain high and will be close to zero.
