Head of the Russian Defense Ministry Andrei Belousov has congratulated the military and veterans on the Day of Strategic Missile Forces. This is stated in his congratulatory telegram dated December 17.

"Strategic Missile Forces as one of the main components of the nuclear deterrent forces are the guarantor of national security and defense of the country's interests. The personnel of the troops, faithful to the glorious traditions of their predecessors, are constantly improving their skills and abilities, successfully mastering new models of weapons and equipment, and are on round-the-clock combat duty," he said.

Belousov also separately thanked the veterans who have become an example for the younger generation, as well as scientists, designers and employees of the enterprises who work on the creation of modern and advanced missile weapons.

"Dear comrades! I congratulate everyone on this holiday! From the bottom of my heart I wish you good health, prosperity and further success in service and labor in the name of Russia," Belousov wrote.

Earlier in the day, Colonel General Sergei Karakaev spoke about the testing of long-range missiles. He indicated that in the future it is planned to emphasize missile divisions that are equipped with mobile-based complexes. The colonel general called such complexes the most effective due to their high maneuverability.

In September, Belousov called the combat capability of the Strategic Missile For ces a decisive factor in Russia's security. He emphasized that to maintain high combat readiness, the Strategic Missile Forces are being equipped with advanced missile systems. The Avangard, Sarmat and Yars complexes are in service.

Before that, in July, it was reported that within the framework of a planned exercise of the Strategic Missile Forces in the Irkutsk Region, the Yars mobile ground-launched missile systems (MGRK) performed intensive maneuvering operations. The Yars MGRKs' crews practiced marching up to 100 km, dispersal of units with change of field positions, their engineering equipment, organization of camouflage and combat escort.
