Putin congratulates Russian swimmers on their victory at the World Cup in Budapest

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the athletes of the Russian national team who won gold medals in the combined relay at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest. The statement was published on the Kremlin's website on December 16.

"Having shown the best result in the combined relay, rightfully became champions and set a new world record. And of course, we have added another gold medal to the piggy bank of our national team. Way to go!" - noted the President.

Putin also wished the athletes bright sporting achievements and all the best.

Earlier, on December 15, swimmers of the Russian national swimming team won gold medals with a world record in the combined 4x100 short water relay at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest. Kirill Prigoda, Miron Lifintsev, Andrei Minakov and Egor Kornev were in the lineup for the final.

Before that, on December 14, Russian swimmers became world champions in the short water mixed 4x100m combined relay in Budapest. They showed a result of 3 min. 30.47 sec. and beat the US team by 0.08 sec.
