In the French overseas territory in the Indian Ocean Mayotte in the hurricane "Chido", according to preliminary information, 21 people died. This was reported by French news channel BMF TV on December 16.

"Authorities report about 21 dead and 45 injured in the emergency," - stated in the material.

Earlier, December 15, it was reported that the number of dead in the hurricane "Chido" on Mayotte may reach several thousand.

According to meteorologists, the storm was accompanied by heavy precipitation and wind gusts up to 250 km / h. As noted by Minister of Ecology and Energy Agnès Pannier-Runache, more than 15 thousand households were left without electricity due to the devastating natural disaster.
