The head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Denis Pushilin, visited Avdiivka, which was liberated in February, and congratulated its residents on the coming New Year.

At the moment, one of the apartment buildings in the town is being restored, and people have already returned to it. The region responsible for this is the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. Pushilin brought with him a Christmas tree and decorated it together with local residents as a symbol of the DNR's aspirations for a peaceful life.

One of the residents of Avdeevka showed the head of the region a Christmas tree ball with the name of the town and suggested hanging it on the Christmas tree in the government of the republic, and later - toys with the names of other liberated settlements as well.

Another local resident noted that the tree brought by Pushilin will remain up until Christmas at least.

Earlier in the day, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that volunteers again handed New Year sweets to children from new regions of Russia. Gifts were handed out in hospitals, orphanages, rehabilitation centers and schools, as well as military families and large families.

Before that, on December 6, it was announced that children from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics would visit the Kremlin Christmas tree at the invitation of the Moscow Federation of Trade Unions. Children of participants of the special military operation and children from large families were also invited to the main Christmas tree in the country.
