All over the world there is a deterioration of people's mental health. This was reported by the British newspaper Financial Times on Monday, December 16.

The material reports that the mental health crisis has worsened after the start of the pandemic in 2020. The main reasons for the deterioration of the condition of people are the cost of living and the use of social networks on a daily basis.

"We are not yet back to where we were before the pandemic," said World Health Organization (WHO) mental health specialist Dan Chisholma.

It is noted that depression and anxiety cause the loss of about 12 billion working days each year, causing a trillion dollar loss to the global economy.

Earlier, on October 21, Daria Yausheva, a clinical psychologist at the medical company SberHealth, told Izvestia that depression can be exacerbated by a number of factors. One of the key ones is social isolation, when a person immersed in a depressive state begins to avoid interaction with others. This leads to the formation of a vicious circle of loneliness and helplessness: the more a person distances himself from others, the more he feels cut off from society and support. And each choice towards isolation reinforces this behavior and worsens the emotional state, the expert explained.
