The cost of the cryptocurrency bitcoin crossed the mark of $107 thousand, setting a new historical record. This follows on December 16 from the materials of the portal CoinMarketCap.

The service calculates the average price on more than 20 exchanges, and after 19:40 Moscow time the cost of bitcoin rose to $107,195.58. In the following minutes, the growth trend corrected slightly, and the price of the cryptocurrency amounted to $106.9 thousand as of 19:59 Moscow time. Thus, over the day bitcoin rose by 3.78%.

The portal adds that the total number of bitcoins now circulating in the markets is 19.79 million.
