- In Krasnoyarsk, doctors managed to resuscitate a patient after a 3.5-hour cardiac arrest

Doctors at a hospital in Krasnoyarsk Krai were able to resuscitate a patient 3.5 hours after the man's heart stopped and clinical death occurred. About it on December 16 reports the Ministry of health of the region.
"The patient arrived at the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation No. 6 of the Krai Clinical Hospital in a state of clinical death, his skin was pale and cold," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the department.
The man was found lying at the bus stop. He was taken to the hospital with general hypothermia, when the temperature of the man was only 19.8 degrees. Medics immediately started resuscitation. Given the man's serious condition, the decision was made to use extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and invasive warming. More than three hours passed from the start of the procedure until the patient's heart began to contract.
"When the central body temperature rose to 28 degrees, ventricular fibrillation - a chaotic and inconclusive contraction of the heart muscle at a high rate (more than 200 per minute) - appeared on the ECG monitor. After that, other signs of life appeared - photoreaction of pupils, muscle contractions", - said Vadim Ohrimchuk, an anesthesiologist-anesthesiologist-resuscitator of the anesthesiology-resuscitation department No. 2.
The very next day the man regained clear consciousness. He said that his name was Alexander, he came to the region to earn money, having no relatives there. Within three days he was transferred to independent breathing. On the fourth day - to the burn unit to continue treatment.
"We were able to resuscitate the patient after 219 minutes of documented cardiac arrest. An example of the capabilities of modern resuscitation technologies - the person did not just survive after such a long and extensive resuscitation, he achieved full recovery of all organs," said Kirill Linev, head of the department.
He added that the work of the hospital's resuscitation team was not a "successful impromptu", but an implementation of the plan to organize extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation and a demonstration of the level of professional skills of anesthesiologists and resuscitators.
In November, doctors at the Veresaev City Clinical Hospital saved the lives of 60 people. Veresaev City Clinical Hospital saved the life of a 60-year-old patient with three out of four heart valves diseased. The doctors managed to diagnose the patient correctly thanks to the new standards of emergency care. The patient was admitted with complaints of shortness of breath and choking. The examination confirmed that he had a heart valve defect and a collapsed organ leaflet.
