An alarming time: experts reported the activity of thieves during the holidays
New Year vacations from year to year remain a time of increased activity of thieves and burglars. According to analysts at Delta Security Systems, the number of alarms triggered in residential premises and commercial real estate during this period increases by 30%. Security experts told Izvestia how to protect your property and what technologies prevent crimes today.
Alcohol under "oversize"
Commercial real estate (mainly small businesses) suffers the most during the New Year period, Valery Ushkov, marketing director of Delta Security Systems, told Izvestia.
- To a greater extent (about 30% of all cases) trade objects, especially grocery stores, suffer. This growth is associated with the increasing variability of theft methods of non-professional criminals. First and foremost is bulky outerwear. More often than not, expensive food and alcohol are stolen using oversize closet items. Alcoholic products are most often tried to sneak in wide sleeves. Small goods are hidden in mittens and gloves. Another method of shoplifting in winter is strollers; larger goods can easily be hidden under voluminous warm covers.
In second place among business objects - catering, says the interlocutor of "Izvestia". Restaurants, bars and cafes during the New Year holidays are faced with an increase in cases of hooliganism and public order violations (fights, conflicts, non-payment of bills).
- Often these cases are provoked by the state of alcoholic intoxication," says Ushkov. At the end of the list of "risk group" objects of non-food trade, where most often there are attempts to steal goods as Christmas gifts.
Dwelling in danger
From year to year, the number of alarms in private homes and cottages is one and a half times higher than in apartments, said Valery Ushkov.
- By types of alarms in the New Year period prevails hooliganism. On average up to 45% of all cases in suburban housing and up to 39% - in urban housing. In second place is illegal entry, up to 28% in apartments and up to 26% in cottages. The top three are disorderly conduct in private homes, up to 25% of all alarms, and theft in apartment buildings, up to 22%.

In the press service of the Independent Guard of the Main Directorate of Rosgvardia in Moscow "Izvestia" reported that a reliable way to keep your property is to install an alarm system. There is also a service for the storage of personal property, money, valuables, documents and in special vaults.
-To provide services for centralized security of objects, places of residence and storage of property of citizens, Rosgvardiya extra-departmental security units use modern technical means of protection: "Jupiter", "Pritok", "Centaur Proxima", working through digital communication channels (Ethernet, GPON, GSM), - said the specialists of Rosgvardiya.
In the company "Delta Security Systems" believe that an effective way to protect the home - the installation of a comprehensive security system.
-A set of sensors will notify you if a window is broken or a door is opened, and in 5-7 minutes there will be a rapid response team on the spot, which will be able to catch the intruder, - says Valery Ushkov. - In addition, such a system can be supplemented with elements of a smart home, which will turn on the light on a schedule, imitating your presence, or turn on the humidifier, so that house plants do not dry out in your absence.

Ekaterina Gelfand, head of Sber Smart Home at SberDevices, pointed out that smart devices can be used to let homeowners know what's going on in their home while they're away.
- For example, devices such as a smart motion sensor and a window and door opening sensor can alert them in time to the arrival of an intruder in the apartment. After leaving home, you can click on the "I left" scenario in the mobile app, and if someone enters the room after that, thanks to smart sensors, the user will receive a notification or SMS message. There is also a useful feature of the smart speaker called "Noise Detector" which will notify about the sound of broken glass, pouring water, siren, loud barking dog.
Since the beginning of the year, groups of extra-departmental security Rosgvardiya about 170 thousand times traveled to protected facilities and places of storage of property of citizens on the signal "alarm". More than 7 thousand offenses were suppressed (criminal cases were initiated on 27 facts). More than 38 thousand citizens were handed over to police officers for various offenses. Of these, administrative protocols were drawn up in respect of 25,408, including 5,712 protocols in respect of citizens brought from protected facilities.
How to protect the house
In the Rosgvardiya recommended that for the time of a long departure to ask neighbors to look after the apartment, take out correspondence from the mailbox. If there are valuables in the house, it is not superfluous to write down serial numbers and other identifiers in a separate notebook or file. It is necessary not to forget to close windows, shutters, balcony doors, and it is desirable to install bars, if the apartment is located on the first or last floor. Also, residents of lower floors were recommended to tightly draw curtains in the evening from prying eyes. Do not spread in social networks information about upcoming vacations, trips abroad, photos from the airport or the vacation itself. This information can be used by unauthorized persons.
