Tagansky district court of Moscow has started examination of the suit of author Tatyana Vikentyeva against writer Boris Akunin (real name - Grigory Chkhartishvili, recognized in Russia as a foreign agent, included in the register of terrorists and extremists), whom she accuses of plagiarism. The source of "Izvestia" reported about it on December 16.

Vikentyeva herself informed Izvestia on December 13 that the suit would be examined. Initially, the independent expertise was to be paid for by Melnichenko's charitable foundation, which soon stopped contacting her. As a result, the money to pay for the expertise was donated by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev.

In December 2023, Akunin was prosecuted for public justification of terrorism and dissemination of deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces. In the following months, the Basmanny court of Moscow arrested him in absentia. The writer was put on an international wanted list and entered in the register of foreign agents.

Also in December 2023, an author from the Smolensk region, Tatyana Vikentyeva, filed a plagiarism lawsuit against the writer for 1 million rubles. The writer claims that Akunin stole the plot of the novel "Azazel" from her book "House of Death". She also asked the court to ban the distribution of the TV series "Fandorin. Azazel" - a modern interpretation of the story from Boris Akunin's novels. The plaintiff had already had a copyright trial over "Cemetery Stories" in 2005 in the Tverskoy District Court.
