The fight against corruption in soccer should be fought with openness and transparency, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said on December 16.

"It is necessary to fight with openness and transparency. There are such mechanisms," he told reporters in response to a related question.

According to Chernyshenko, in order to fight corruption, it should also be identified, which is the responsibility of investigative bodies.

Earlier, on November 26, Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev told the Russian State Council's commission on sports development that he had learned about the 36 million ruble debt of the Krylya Sovetov soccer club to "criminals who are engaged in corruption in the referee corps of Russian soccer." According to him, such a system has been in place for several years. The governor suggested refusing to finance it at the expense of taxpayers.

Fedorishchev then referred the facts of corruption schemes to the police. At the same time, he expressed disappointment that Russian Premier League (RPL) clubs had asked for confirmation and emphasized that he was in favor of "clean sport". Later, on December 4, the Russian Interior Ministry announced the launch of an inspection after Fedorishchev's words.
