Putin presented state awards to Russian Paralympians


Russian President Vladimir Putin presented state awards to the winners of the Summer Paralympic Games in Paris. The ceremony was held on December 16 in the Kremlin.
Thus, swimmers Roman Zhdanov, Andrei Kalina, Dmitry Chernyaev and Valeria Shabalina, as well as track and field athletes Andrei Vdovin, Vladimir Sviridov, Evgeny Torsunov and Alexander Yaremchuk were awarded the Order of Honor.
In turn, the Order of Friendship was awarded to track and field athletes Alexander Kostin, Ivan Revenko, Khetag Khinchagov, Alexei Churkin and Matvey Yakushev.
Putin also said that Russian medalists of the Paris Paralympic Games will additionally receive a bonus of 3 million rubles.
The Paralympic Games were held in Paris from August 28 to September 8. They were attended by 90 Russian athletes who won 64 medals, including 20 gold medals. The athletes competed under a neutral flag.
In October, Putin signed a decree awarding them. At the same time, he said that Russia is proud of its Paralympians, who win and become medalists in all international competitions.
