A doctor gave tips on setting goals for the New Year

Usually at the end of the year we make conclusions - for example, about our dreams, achieved goals, missed opportunities and unfulfilled desires. The first thing to do is to celebrate your successes and thank yourself for all your achievements. Sergey Martynov, psychotherapist, founder of the International Institute of Psychosomatic Health, teacher of the course "KPT", told "Izvestia" about how to set goals for the New Year correctly.
"You should make a revision of your goals: whether the goals set a year ago are really important for you now and whether it is worth continuing to strive for them. Periodically, you should filter them to increase the priority to what is really important and sacrifice what loses its importance," Martynov said.
According to him, it is necessary to find out what goals a person sets for himself and what he is ready to do to achieve them. When analyzing the past year, it is important to realize that the individual has undergone changes and his or her desires have also evolved. Prioritizing becomes an important aspect of this process. If an individual realizes that their aspirations still matter, they should, overcoming their fears, take steps to achieve them. If there is a lack of knowledge, one should acquire it and also find out what skills will be needed to achieve the goals.
"Psychologists recommend: having identified negative attitudes, they should be replaced with positive ones that help to keep going towards what you want and create your best future," the doctor said.
According to the specialist, when people deal with their goals, they may face a lot of emotions. It is important to stay calm and approach the process step-by-step, starting with prioritizing your goals. This will help to persevere towards the desired result, even despite possible difficulties and obstacles. It is also worthwhile to listen carefully to your inner feelings and not to atomize your energies on many tasks at the same time. Often we spend much of our energy on regrets and fears related to negative attitudes acquired in the past. These attitudes can manifest as an internal dialog.
"It is important to learn to identify these negative attitudes and realize that they are not in alignment with the reality you are in now because they were formed in the past. Although earlier they may have been useful - in adolescence or childhood, when you were in other conditions, and remained with you as an atavism, and now only limit your freedom and the possibility of self-realization, "- concluded Martynov.
Earlier, on November 25, psychotherapist of "Semeynaya" clinic network Armenuya Arakelyan told "Izvestia" about how to overcome the feeling of constant fatigue. According to her, if the quantity and quality of sleep is sufficient, then perhaps the problem is in the rest, for example, it is worth taking a vacation at work.
