Pregnant women in Russian regions received letters of blessing from Patriarch Kirill

Since December 2024, pregnant women in 17 regions have started receiving letters in which His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia blesses them for childbirth. This is stated in a letter from Deputy Head of the Ministry of Labor Olga Batalina to the government apparatus, which was familiarized by Izvestia. In this case, we are talking about a new tool to prevent pregnancy termination within the framework of the project "Hello, Mom!". This is a new strategy to support pregnant women.

In Russia, this project has been implemented since February 2022, during this time it was possible to save the lives of 7.9 thousand babies from abortions, including 2.9 thousand babies in 2024. The number of abortions in the Pskov region (by 62%), in the Republic of Mordovia (by 51%), in the Smolensk region (by 28%), as well as in the Arkhangelsk, Vologda, Magadan and other regions, the Ministry of Labor emphasized in the document.

In Russia, a comprehensive approach to the prevention of artificial termination of pregnancy: according to the Ministry of Health, physicians actively counsel women in a state of reproductive choice in offices, antenatal clinics. Roszdravnadzor also analyzes Internet resources, thanks to this on October 1, 2024 Roskomnadzor has already blocked 86.5 thousand Internet resources, including almost 2 thousand sites that offered to buy drugs intended for medical termination of pregnancy.

Earlier, December 10, it was reported that the State Duma proposed to raise the allowance for pregnant students of universities and colleges to the level of the minimum wage. Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Education and Science supported the initiative. At the same time, in 2023, about 27.7 thousand Russian female students combined their studies with maternity, of which 13.5 thousand were raising children under three years old, according to the data of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. By the beginning of 2024, the figure rose to 36.9 thousand people.
