Moldovan residents have been urged to reduce the temperature in their homes to 19-21 degrees Celsius, as well as to use energy-efficient equipment in order to save electricity consumption. This was reported by info1.md portal.

"Termoelectrica SA (the company that heats Chisinau. - Ed.) calls on all consumers to take simple and effective measures to save energy. This initiative is aimed not only at reducing bills, but also at protecting the environment and optimizing energy consumption at the national level," reads the message on the website.

The company gave recommendations to residents of the capital on how to keep warm in apartments. Thus, residents were advised to check windows and doors, use dense curtains, do not cover radiators, use energy-efficient equipment, LED lamps and turn off lights when not needed, especially during peak hours.

"At the same time, consumers are advised to set an economical temperature of +19...+21 degrees in the houses and reduce it at night or when no one is home," - the portal quotes the words of representatives of the company.

Earlier, on December 13, it became known that Moldova introduces a state of emergency (state of emergency) from December 16 because of the threat of a humanitarian crisis in connection with the possible termination of Russian gas transit through Ukraine. The document states that it is planned to introduce a state of emergency for a 60-day period on the entire territory of the republic. Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja, in turn, said that the country is ready for winter and has the resources to support Moldova, if necessary.

Before that, on December 6, the president of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (TMR), Vadim Krasnoselsky, said that an economic state of emergency was being introduced in Transnistria due to the current difficult situation in the energy sector. Later, the DMR Supreme Council approved the presidential decree.

In November, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebryan said that the possible termination of gas supplies to the DMR by Russia after the stoppage of Russian gas transit through Ukraine would turn into a humanitarian disaster. According to him, such a situation should be avoided by any state. On 22 November, the Moldovan energy minister said that Transnistria might face energy difficulties from 1 January if Russia's Gazprom stops gas supplies.
