- Belousov pointed out the danger of the deployment of US medium-range missiles in the FRG

The medium-range missiles that the United States plans to deploy in Germany can reach Moscow in eight minutes. This was announced by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov on December 16.
"In July of this year, Washington and Berlin officially announced the deployment in 2026 on the territory of Germany of American medium-range missiles, up to 2,400 kilometers, and in the future the deployment of hypersonic missiles with an approach time to Moscow of about eight minutes," Belousov said at an expanded meeting of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry.
He also said that in order to repel threats from NATO it is necessary to solve a number of tasks, to introduce new approaches to the formation of the state armament program. According to him, it is about the need to take into account the nature of future military conflicts.
The Pentagon announced in July that the United States will start deploying long-range weapons on the territory of Germany in 2026. It is about SM-6 anti-aircraft systems, Tomahawk cruise missiles and hypersonic weapons.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the deployment of U.S. missiles on the country's territory a good decision. In his opinion, Russia is "incredibly armed," which could allegedly threaten Europe.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov also confirmed that Russia has something to respond to, as Moscow has long been preparing for an escalation of aggression on the part of the West. At the same time, the diplomat pointed out that Russia will not get involved in an expensive arms race, because the country has everything it needs for defense. Thus, Germany and the U.S. will only "throw money away".
Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said that the decision to deploy US missiles in Germany was unacceptable and emphasized that Russia would have a tough and adequate response to the move.
