- The mother of a man killed in a tanker crash in the Black Sea told of her son's fatigue

Natalia, the mother of the sailor killed in the wreck of a tanker in the Kerch Strait, told Izvestia on December 16 that her son Daniil had not been home for a long time and complained of severe fatigue due to work.
According to the woman, everyone knew that the vessel Volgoneft-212 was old.
"Everyone knew that the vessel was old. But we somehow did not talk about the ship, about work. He (son. - Ed.) was just very tired. He had been there since February. <...> He said: 'I want to go home', he called me every day, saying that he was very tired and wanted to go home," she said.
According to Natalia, the young man was supposed to return before the New Year holidays, but did not have time. He told his mother that he would be home only by January 5.
On the eve of the Russian tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" crashed due to bad weather in the Kerch Strait. There were strong squally winds and sea waves of up to seven points in that area. As a result of the wreck there was a spill of oil products. The tankers ran aground.
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave orders to organize rescue operations. Thirteen people were evacuated from the first vessel: one of them was killed, 11 were injured, two of them remain in a state of moderate severity. In turn, all 14 crew members were also evacuated from the tanker Volgoneft-239 on Monday.
The prosecutor's office has started an investigation into the incident. The Russian Investigative Committee's Department for Crimea and Sevastopol has opened two criminal cases.
