Novokubansky district court has chosen a measure of punishment for six people, who are on trial for riots at the international airport "Makhachkala". This was reported on December 16 in the joint press service of the courts of the Krasnodar region.

The court announced the sentence against Roosevelt Tagirov, Bashir Magamedaliyev, Magamednabi Shaykhslamov, Alibeg Ramazanov, Shamil Gadzhiev and Magamed Gadzhiev.

"On October 29, 2023, the defendants, being on the territory of the international airport "Makhachkala", guided by motives of national and religious hatred and enmity, took part in mass riots. The reason for the protests was the arrival at the airport of an airplane from Tel Aviv with Israelicitizens on board," the court said in its Telegram channel.

The defendants received from 4.5 to 6 years in prison.

According to the investigation, the convicts damaged the airport property worth more than 24 million rubles, as well as resisted police officers during detention.

December 11, Alexandrovsky district court of Stavropol region sentenced seven more participants of the riots at Makhachkala airport to terms of eight to nine years. Before that, on August 23, five rioters were sentenced to terms of up to nine years.

Theriots at Makhachkala airport began in the evening of October 29 last year. The participants came with anti-Israeli posters and chanted slogans in support of Palestine. At one point, part of the crowd broke down the entrance doors and broke into the terminal building of the air harbor.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting about the incident on October 30, 2023. The head of state also pointed out that behind the events was the intention to rock the country from within. In turn, the head of the republic Sergei Melikov appealed to residents with a request not to let enemies and provocateurs manipulate themselves and sway the situation in the region.

On July 9, 2024, Dagestan Interior Minister Abdurashid Magomedov said that 140 people are in custody in the case of riots. In addition, according to him, more than 1.2 thousand participants of the incident were brought to administrative responsibility.
