If during a call you are offered to install any application, you should refuse it and clarify the information in the bank yourself, as fraudsters can make a clone of a bank card to steal your savings. This was announced by Alexander Vurasko, development director of the service for monitoring external digital threats, on Monday, December 16.

Earlier it was reported that in Russia in November and December began to spread actively fraud scheme that allows you to create virtual clones of victims' bank cards with the help of spyware, reports NSN.

Fraudsters encourage victims to install malware under the guise of a cellular operator's mobile application and gain access to bank card data, which allows them to withdraw funds from ATMs and pay for purchases in stores with NFC terminals, RT reported.

Vurasco emphasized that under no circumstances should you pass any codes or install apps at the request of the person who called you.

"These are ironclad rules that should always be followed. If there is even a little doubt, it is better to go to the bank branch, explain the situation and ask for help to install the application. Nowadays, almost all bank offices do this. You can also safely drop a call and call back to the hotline of your cellular operator or bank to clarify the information," - said the expert in conversation with aif.ru.
