The mountain sheep (argali), which disappeared from the region more than 100-150 years ago, has returned to Transbaikalia. The animals were spotted in several districts in the south of the region.

According to the publication of the Daursky Reserve, quoted by IA ChitaMedia, recently there have been reports that argali have appeared in Akshinsky and Ononsky districts. And two years ago a mountain ram was spotted in the forest-steppe part of the Nerchinsky Ridge in the Borzinsky district. One of the farmers told the Reserve's specialists about it.

The species of the animal could not be determined at that time, as the quality of photos did not allow to do it. However, a few days ago, the same farmer said that the animal remained in place. The Reserve staff was able to verify that it was indeed a argali.

The mountain sheep turned out to be a female, she is about 2.5 years old. Fresh droppings will allow scientists to determine what species and subspecies it is.

Employees of the reserve ask residents of the region to be more attentive and in case of detection of animals similar to argali, to report it to the reserve.

In mid-November it was reported that a young lynx walked along the streets of the village of Tselinniy, Krasnokamensk district, Transbaikal Territory. The wild animal was noticed by local residents. According to experts, young lynxes are inexperienced and sometimes come out to populated areas, but such cases are isolated.
