Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 16 at an enlarged meeting of the Defense Ministry board demanded to increase the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

"It is necessary to increase the production of robotic complexes and unmanned systems of various classes and types," Putin said.

The president noted that several thousand drones are supplied to the Russian troops every day, the combat and operational characteristics of which should be improved.

It is no less important, according to the head of state, to train UAV operators, to train them under programs developed on the basis of combat experience.

"Through the introduction of advanced developments of the defense industry complex (Defense Industrial Complex. - Ed.) it is necessary to form as soon as possible a unified information circuit, uniting means of reconnaissance and defeat at the strategic, operational and tactical levels of control," Putin added.

Earlier, on October 1, Ruslan Lyapin, deputy director general for development of the drone developer Atri JSC, told Izvestia that the Dandelion unmanned aerial system (UAS) with a coaxial propeller arrangement has begun mass production.

Experts noted that the UAS can be effective both for reconnaissance and for protection of strategically important facilities. Due to the fact that the development has small dimensions, the Dandelion will be difficult to hit, military expert Dmitry Kornev noted.
