Video of the Volgoneft-239 tanker grounded near Taman published

The damaged tanker Volgoneft-239, which ran aground near the port of Taman in Krasnodar Territory, is standing near the shore. Images of the vessel are published by Izvestia on December 16.

The video shows that the ship is stable on the shoal with minimal roll.

Tanker "Volgoneft-212" suffered a disaster in the Kerch Strait on December 15 due to bad weather. The signal was received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. In the area where the ship was located, there were strong squally winds and sea waves up to seven points. There were 13 crew members on board, 12 people were rescued, one person died due to hypothermia.

Later, the regional Emergencies Ministry said that the second tanker, Volgoneft-239, was damaged. The agency added that 50 people and 11 units of equipment were involved in the elimination of the incident. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia specified that both tankers, having received damage, ran aground.

The prosecutor's office has started checking the wreck of two tankers. The Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for Crimea and Sevastopol opened two criminal cases because of the incident. The next day, December 16, the regional department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia said that as part of the investigation, experts seized documents from firms where the two ships were tested for their suitability in July.

At the same time, all 14 crew members were rescued from the Volgoneft-239. When the tankers crashed , there was a partial leak of fuel oil, which is drifting towards the coast in the area from Cape Panagia to the Tuzla Spit, preparations are underway to clean up the spill.
