There were 523 traffic accidents in Russia over the weekend


On Russian roads over the weekend there were 523 accidents in which 51 people were killed and 679 injured. 15 of the dead were pedestrians, the remaining 36 - drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Monday, December 16, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
With the participation of buses on the roads of Russia recorded 31 accidents, in which three people died, 48 more required medical care. The cause of 17 accidents with buses were violations of traffic rules committed by drivers of other vehicles.
Thus, in the Leningrad region at 100 km of the regional highway St. Petersburg - Ruchyi, the driver of a passenger car in snowfall conditions drove into the oncoming lane, where he collided with an intercity bus carrying seven passengers. As a result of the accident the driver of the car died, two passengers of the bus were hospitalized with injuries, two more were sent for outpatient treatment after medical care.
The traffic police urged motorists to observe traffic rules and driving discipline. In order to ensure safety, drivers should exclude risky manner of driving, especially in winter weather, neglecting the established speed limit and making dangerous maneuvers, which often become the cause of traffic accidents with serious consequences.
With the participation of minors 49 road accidents were registered, as a result of which 52 young road users were injured, including 19 pedestrians and 32 passengers. Two children died: a pedestrian and a passenger. Thus, in one of the cottage settlements of New Moscow, an intoxicated woman driver of a passenger car in snowfall conditions made a collision with two pedestrians - a nine-year-old boy and his nanny, who were moving on the sidewalk. The young pedestrian died, and the woman accompanying him was injured in hospital.
In the Krasnodar region on a regional highway in the morning, a truck driver drove into a regulated intersection at a prohibited traffic signal and collided with a passenger car. The 14-year-old passenger of the passenger car, who was in the back seat and was not wearing a seatbelt, died in the accident. The female driver of the passenger car and her two passengers, including a 13-year-old boy who was also sitting in the back without using a seat belt, were hospitalized with injuries.
"We advise motorists to be careful and cautious when passing intersections. Never be in a hurry to start or continue driving when traffic signals change, control the traffic situation. Make sure that there is indeed a change of signals and only then resume your journey. Please note that in winter precipitation conditions, the diffuser of the traffic light object may be heavily covered with snow and its signal may not always be recognizable. In such cases, the appeared problem should be immediately eliminated, so it is better to immediately report it to the servicing organization, not relying on appeals from other road users", - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of propaganda of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
On December 12, the State Duma passed a bill to increase a number of traffic fines, the amendments should come into force on January 1, 2025. In particular, for exceeding the speed limit by 20-40 km / h (the most frequent violation of the rules) the fine will be 750 rubles instead of 500 rubles. The maximum fine for speeding (80 km/h and above) will increase from Br5 thousand to Br7.5 thousand.
