If Washington fails to reduce the budget deficit, the United States is in big trouble. This was stated by American billionaire Ilon Musk on December 15.

"If action is not taken to reduce the deficit, America will be in serious trouble. It's not unlike the situation of someone who got into too much debt," he wrote in Musk-owned social network X (formerly Twitter).

Earlier, on December 3, Musk said that the U.S. is rapidly approaching total bankruptcy due to the growing national debt.

Before that, on November 24, the U.S. national debt for the first time in history exceeded the mark of $36 trillion. According to the latest information, the debt of the population amounted to almost $29 billion, public debt - about $7 billion. Thus, the total debt amounted to more than $36 billion.

Specialists of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) called the growth of the U.S. national debt a threat to the world economy. Thus, by 2032, the country's national debt may exceed 140% of GDP. The IMF urged American politicians to carefully consider the issue of raising indirect taxes and gradual increase in income tax.
