Rosrybolovstvo to assess the consequences of the emergency in the Kerch Strait


Rosrybolovstvo monitors the situation in the Kerch Strait in connection with the emergency situation with the crash of tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239". This is stated in the Telegram-channel of the Department on Sunday, December 15.
"The head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov instructed the Azov-Black Sea territorial department of Rosrybolovstvo and VNIRO to analyze the situation. A working group has been created, specialists have been sent to the place. For a comprehensive study of the scale is necessary reconnaissance from the air and water sampling," - stated in the message.
It is noted that the assessment of damage to aquatic bioresources is currently impossible and will be carried out immediately after the weather conditions return to normal, and the elimination of the consequences of the accident will be completed.
The agency specified that it will cooperate with the working group of the Russian Government headed by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev, which was established by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to eliminate the consequences of the accident.
The tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait earlier in the day. There were strong squally winds and sea excitement of up to seven points in that area. First it became known about the wreck of one vessel, after a while it was reported about the damage of the second tanker. In the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol reported that more than 50 people and 11 units of equipment are involved in the elimination of the incident.
The vessel "Volgoneft-212" ran aground, a few hours later the same happened with "Volgoneft-239" near the port of Taman, Krasnodar Territory. During the rescue operation 13 people were evacuated from the first vessel, one of them died. The crew of the second tanker consisting of 14 people is on the vessel. The evacuation of the crew was suspended due to bad weather. Two criminal cases were opened over the incident, one of which was reclassified as more serious.
