The Defense Ministry showed footage of the Pantsir-S SAM system operating in the Kursk Region

Pantsir-S SAM systems are on round-the-clock combat duty over the positions of Russian troops in the border area of Kursk Region. The Russian Defense Ministry published footage of the operation on December 15.

During the performance of combat missions in support of the North grouping unit, the ZRPK repeatedly destroyed targets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

"To destroy air targets, the complex has 12 anti-aircraft missiles. In addition, the complex is equipped with two double-barrel cannons of 30 mm caliber with 1,400 rounds of ammunition," the ministry said in a statement.

The Defense Ministry specified that the SAM can hit any means of air attack within the established range of operation. In addition, the ministry said that after arriving at a new location, the calculations can switch from the duty mode to combat mode in 10 seconds.

On the eve, the Defense Ministry showed footage of combat work of servicemen of the Russian Air and Space Forces, who on Mi-8 helicopters escort crews of combat helicopters in the Kursk region. Ka-52, Mi-28 and Mi-35 helicopters are sent to the border areas of Kursk region. Mi-8 always follows nearby. The task of the crew of the latter helicopter is to work in the event of an emergency situation. The Mi-8 group, as explained in the department, includes a serviceman of the medical department, as well as the mandatory fire support group.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a federal emergency. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
