In Irkutsk, a large-scale restoration of the cultural heritage site at 12 Kalandarishvili Street, known as the Polutovs' house, which now houses an oncology clinic, has been completed. This is reported by the regional government.

"A large complex of works was carried out on the facade of the building, it is the subject of protection. The sculptures at the roof level - boys on dolphins - lost even in pre-war times have been restored. In pre-revolutionary Russia they were a symbol of clans", - the message says.

These elements were recreated according to the surviving documents. Cartouches - large decorative elements on the roof of the building - were also restored according to historical photos.

In addition, specialists strengthened and waterproofed the foundations, strengthened all exterior and interior walls, made monolithic reinforced concrete floors and staircases, built a new roof. The builders also replaced engineering systems, windows and doors, rebuilt entrance groups and carried out remodeling. The old annex was completely demolished and a new one was erected - it housed an MRI machine.

"It is extremely difficult to adapt architectural monuments for medical facilities that meet modern standards. Here, in my opinion, it has succeeded," commented Elena Ivanova, Advisor of the Department of State Protection of Architectural Monuments of the Irkutsk Region Cultural Heritage Protection Service.

The building will be put into operation after the commission of Gosstroynadzor examines it, writes IA IrkutskMedia.

The restoration of the Polutovs' house, built in the early XX century, started in 2019. The regional budget allocated 373 million rubles for this purpose. Such work has never been carried out in the building before.

In the early XX century, the building housed a public maternity hospital and a hospital for women and infants. During the Soviet era, it housed an endocrinology dispensary and then a polyclinic of the oncology center.
