The tanker Volgoneft 212 is in distress due to bad weather in the Kerch Strait, the vessel is damaged. This was reported on December 15 in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
"Due to bad weather in the Kerch Strait the vessel "Volgoneft 212" is damaged. There are 13 people on board. The crew has requested assistance. It is known that the ship has oil products, information about the spill is being clarified," - stated in the message of the Department in Telegram-channel.
To help the ship flew out a helicopter Mi-8 EMERCOM of Russia, on board of which are rescuers "Krym-Spas". In addition, a rescue tugboat "Mercury" of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center came to the "Volgoneft 212" from Kamysh-Burun Bay.
In the main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Republic of Crimea specified that the signal about the distress of the tanker came in the morning. In the Kerch Strait are observed strong squally wind and sea excitement up to 7 points.

Later, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said that the Volgoneft 212 tanker was damaged and ran aground.
According to the service Marinetraffic, the tanker is in the Kerch Strait in a fairly large direction from the shore. It is indicated that the length of the vessel is 136 meters, and the width is 16 meters.
The tanker Volgoneft 212 was built on December 15, 1969 in Volgograd and is assigned to the Big Port of St. Petersburg.
