In addition, Russian operational aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery destroyed a combat control vehicle, four U.S. launchers of the Patriot surface-to-air missile system (SAM) and the associated AN/MPQ-65 radar station. In 146 special operation areas, the infrastructure of military airfields, concentrations of personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were hit.

The day before, on December 14, the press secretary of the governor of the Kherson region, Volodymyr Vasylenko, said that Russian air defense means had shot down a Ukrainian MiG-29 tactical aircraft over the region.

Later, on December 15, the Russian Defense Ministry said that a Russian drone operator destroyed with a single strike an AFU field warehouse where the militants had stored about 50 anti-tank mines. The battalion's chief of staff with the call sign Berkut said that after the drone hit, a fire started in the Ukrainian warehouse and then there was a strong detonation of ammunition.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
