Russia has always been open to an equal and constructive dialog with the Moldovan side. This was stated by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova Oleg Ozerov in an interview with the portal of Orthodox journalists and bloggers "Tradition" on December 14.

"Diplomacy is the art of the possible. There are things that are impossible under the circumstances, and there are things that are possible. And finally, there is - I hope it exists not only on the Russian side, but also on the other side - an understanding that diplomacy is dialog. And if there are diplomatic relations, then there must be dialog. This, in fact, is what we need to think about now," the interlocutor said.

According to Ozerov, Russia is always ready to conduct meaningful negotiations with the republic. He also said that historical experience shows the rashness of the line to "freeze" diplomatic tools, which become the most needed in case of divergence in the approaches of the states.

Earlier, on December 9, Moldovan MP Marina Tauber from the opposition Victory bloc told journalists that the opposition intends to defend cooperation with Russia in the interests of the state's citizens.

On December 4, the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that the European Union (EU) ambassador to Moldova, Janis Mazeiks, demanded that the government find any pretext and sentence representatives of the Moldovan opposition to criminal punishment. The chairman of the Victory bloc, Ilan Shor, called the criminal prosecution of the opposition repressions.

Prior to that, on November 20, Shor noted that the goals of re-elected Moldovan President Maia Sandu are far from the interests of the citizens of the republic and the head of state is turning the country into a colony of the West. In particular, Sandu is increasing defense spending, while social protection and health care have been deprived of funding, and large families and pensioners live below the poverty line.

On October 20, Moldova held a referendum on the country's European integration. Only 9 out of 36 districts of Moldova voted for changing the constitution for the sake of joining the EU, while in Gagauzia more than 90% of those who voted were against European integration. At the same time, the Moldovan Central Election Commission reported that 50.39% of Moldovan citizens voted in favor of rapprochement with Europe following the results of the referendum. However, a number of politicians doubted the official results of the referendum.
