The head of the Gagauz autonomy of Moldova, Eugenia Gutsul, said on December 14 that she does not consider Maya Sandu, who won the elections in the country, to be a legitimate president.

"She (Maia Sandu. - Ed.) is an illegitimate president. The people who are in Moldova did not vote for her, did not support her," she said during the round table "30 years of Gagauzia's special legal status within the Republic of Moldova: lessons of history and challenges of time" in Moscow.

Gutsul recalled that it was Sandu who deprived the diaspora located on the territory of the Russian state of the right to vote in the Moldovan presidential election, securing a minimum percentage by voting in America, Canada and Italy.

"There were only two polling stations and 10,000 ballots in Russia, when more than 400,000 of our compatriots live here," she said.

As for the Constitutional Court (CC) and its decision, Gutsul said that the CC shows loyalty to the Moldovan government and president, as the country's authorities are engaged in bribing judges.

"At the expense of our taxes, at the expense of our financial means, the people of Moldova, they are bribing all the judges in the constitutional court," she said, answering Izvestia's question.

Earlier, on November 28, Moldova's constitutional court confirmed the results of the presidential election and recognized Maia Sandu's mandate for the next four years. Sandu's inauguration ceremony is scheduled for December 24.

On November 4, it became known that Sandu won the presidential election with 55.33% of votes. Voting was held in two rounds, as in the first round on October 20, none of the 11 candidates passed the 50% threshold. During the second round on November 3 , 141 violations were recorded.

On 5 November, the Victory bloc announced that it would challenge the results of the presidential election. The statement stated that Sandu achieved the desired result only due to fraud at European polling stations and massive violations. It noted the inequality of voting conditions for diasporas from Russia and Western countries. Also, the Party of Communists of Moldova did not recognize the legitimacy of Sandu's power. The Moldovan Party of Socialists also refused to recognize the voting results.
