Zakharova commented on the UNESCO report on the safety of journalists

Russia does not intend to put up with UNESCO's attempts to ignore the killings of Russian journalists by the Kiev regime. This was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on December 14.
"The Russian side does not intend to tolerate the continuation of the practice of preparing such pseudo-statistical reports and, in general, abuses in the activities of the UN organization in the interests of a narrow group of countries. The whole set of accumulated problems in the information and communication sector of UNESCO will be considered in detail at the upcoming meetings of its governing bodies," Zakharova said on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
She added that the Russian Federation categorically rejected the recognition of this report, which grossly distorts the reality taking place in the field of journalists' safety and which for political reasons ignores "the brutal murders of Russian correspondents by the Kiev regime." Zakharova called the text a source of misinformation in the field of safety of media workers.
She said Russia will continue to defend the principles of the charters of the UN and UNESCO, which unite countries of the Global South that disagree with the "notorious rule-based world order."
On December 12, UNESCO published a report on media representatives killed in conflicts, which did not mention the slain Russian journalists.
Earlier in the day, Zakharova also called the UNESCO head's report on the violation of journalists' rights fake. She noted that in this way the West had exposed itself. In addition, she thanked all those who sent letters in support of journalists from Russia and protested.
Ukrainian militants have repeatedly attacked media representatives. For example, on June 16, News.ru correspondent Nikita Tsitsagi was killed in a drone attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk People's Republic. In August, VGTRK military correspondent Yevgeny Poddubny was wounded in the Kursk region. That day he was covering the situation in the region. The military correspondent was traveling in a car that came under attack by an AFU drone.
Before that, on April 19, Semyon Eremin, a military correspondent of Izvestia, was killed in an FPV drone attack while filming a report in the SSO zone. The Russian Investigative Committee said that Eremin was killed as a result of a targeted attack by the AFU. The agency intends to identify all those involved in the journalist's death.
