Ka-52M crew destroyed AFU troops and a stronghold in the Kursk border area


An army aviation crew on a Ka-52M helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has struck a Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) manpower and stronghold in a border area of Kursk Region with air missiles. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on December 14.
"In the course of the combat mission to support units of the North group, the pilots of the army aviation performed missile launches according to the coordinates of the aviation spotter and destroyed the stronghold and personnel of the AFU," the defense ministry said in a statement.
After the attack, the crew performed anti-missile maneuvering at extremely low altitude with the use of heat traps to prevent missile strikes by portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS) missiles from the enemy.
"Army aviation in the course of the special military operation performs the tasks of escorting convoys, destroying armored vehicles of the AFU, delivery of paratroopers, military cargo, aviation support of units performing tasks within the framework of the NWO", - added in the department.
Earlier in the day, the defense ministry showed the work of servicemen of the Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) on Mi-8 helicopters escorting crews of attack helicopters in the Kursk region. Ka-52, Mi-28 and Mi-35 helicopters are sent to the Kursk border region. Mi-8 always follows nearby. The task of the crew of the last helicopter is to work in case of an emergency situation. The search and rescue team will locate the victims, provide them with the necessary medical care on the spot, and then transport them to a safe area for further treatment.
At the same time it was reported that in the Kursk border area military special forces of the Rosgvardia group of troops together with units of the Ministry of Defense destroyed more than 30 militants, equipment and weapons of the AFU. It was specified that the Rosgvardeys also provided cover and escort for the Russian Armed Forces' multiple rocket launchers.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
