"People's Front" told about the features of the drones "Night Witch" and "KVN"

New drones - the "Night Witch", the "Prince Vandal of Novgorod" ("KVN") - and a medium-sized robotic platform suitable for a wide range of tasks are being actively used on the line of contact of the special operation for the defense of Donbas. Representatives of the "Kulibin Club" and the "People's Front" told Izvestia about the features of this technique on December 14 at the XXII Congress of the United Russia party.

"This drone is called "Night Witch", it is actively used on the front line. It flies at night, can carry up to four charges and actually hit the enemy at night, which is convenient. It is equipped with a heat-insulating chamber and night vision," said Gleb, a representative of the Kulibin Club.

He noted that this is a rather complicated technique, but the factories produce them in sufficient quantity to supply the front. "Kulibin-club" actively cooperates with the factory, helping to scale production and send the military drones on request. The exact volume of deliveries is classified.

Gleb also told about the drone "KVN", which is assembled using fiber optics and has a range of about 15 km. Thanks to fiber optics, the drone cannot be suppressed by electronic warfare (EW). This drone was first tested at a firing range, and then it was the first to be widely used in the Kursk area.

Boris Podolny, deputy head of the People's Front's executive committee, said that the organization supplies the Russian military with medium-sized robotic platforms that are suitable for mines, for logistical tasks, for carrying weapons, such as machine guns and anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), and for evacuation, if you install a stretcher on the platform. The equipment has a payload capacity of 250 kilograms and is wide enough not to get stuck in the ground. Podolny noted that this type of technology is now developing even more dynamically than drones.

To improve robotic platforms more actively, it is necessary to include them in the staff schedule of units, to establish the process of training fighters and the use of such equipment to solve various combat tasks. The deputy head of the executive committee shared that he had seen how the military at the positions directly in the field make similar mechanisms.

Earlier, on September 20, specialists of Bauman Moscow State Technical University completed the development of a robotic wheeled armored platform "Tor". This technique weighs 5 tons and can be used to deliver a variety of equipment, weapons and military hardware. Thor's range is 200 km, and the platform can take up to 1.2 tons of payload.

Eduard Baghdasaryan, general director of the Association of Unmanned Aerial Systems Industry Enterprises, told Izvestia on August 14 that the Prince Vandal of Novgorod is equipped with a fiber optic spool that unwinds while the drone is flying. Over this material, the drone is controlled and transmits a video stream.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
