The AFU lost about 40.5 thousand troops during the fighting in the Kursk border area

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have lost about 40.5 thousand fighters during the total time of military operations in the territory of the border areas of Kursk Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on December 14.

"In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost more than 40,460 servicemen, 240 tanks, 178 infantry fighting vehicles, 125 armored personnel carriers, 1,253 armored combat vehicles," the ministry said.

In addition, over the same period, the Ukrainian army lost 311 artillery guns, 1,131 vehicles and many other vehicles, including foreign-made ones, in the Kursk border area.

During the day, the Russian army destroyed more than 200 AFU fighters, a tank, an American Bradley infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), an armored combat vehicle (ACV), two artillery pieces, a mortar, a radio electronic warfare (REB) station and seven vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian army.

Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the calculation of a 152 mm caliber "Hyacinth-B" howitzer of Crimean artillery paratroopers destroyed an artillery gun of the AFU on the Kursk direction. The location of the enemy's installation was discovered by scouts, who passed the information to the Hyacinth-B calculation, which aimed the howitzer and eliminated the AFU gun with an accurate shot.

On the same day, servicemen of the reconnaissance unit of the "North" group of forces destroyed an underground shelter of the AFU in the Kursk border area. The strike was carried out by an FPV drone. According to the agency, there were Ukrainian fighters inside the shelter.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk Region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The operation to destroy the militants continues.
