A Russian sniper lay in the snow for a week and covered infantrymen

A sniper of the Zapad group of troops with the call sign Miha lay in the snow for a week and got frostbite on his legs while covering Russian infantrymen who were storming the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was revealed on December 14 by the commander of the sniper platoon of the volunteer regiment "Bashkortostan" of the "West" group with the call sign Kasper.
"Our pairs advanced as part of the infantry for reinforcement. The sniper pair moved out and was on the 'lezhka' (hidden sniper position. - Ed.) for about a week, and here our sniper froze his feet off," Kasper told RIA Novosti.
He added that it happened in December 2023, when it snowed with rain at night and slush appeared. The commander emphasized that frostbite did not force Mikha to leave the position, he fulfilled his combat task and only then went to the hospital.
The sniper himself shared that he spent 11 months in rehabilitation after frostbite, and then returned to service, but in a different unit. Tank battalion commander Alexander Sopin added that Mikha now serves in the communications platoon. The sniper could have gone on leave, but preferred to go to the line of contact again.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that junior sergeant Chyrgal Oorzhak spotted an AFU sabotage and reconnaissance group trying to stealthily sneak into Russian positions, passed information about it to a mortar crew and engaged the Ukrainians in combat. Oorzhak risked being attacked by enemy quadrocopters, but continued to fire. The AFU group retreated, suffering serious losses.
The day before, on December 13, the Defense Ministry showed the combat work of the Grad multiple rocket launcher system (MLRS) of the artillery unit of the 58th All-Russian Army of the Dnipro group of forces, which destroyed several AFU strongholds in the Zaporizhzhya region. A senior officer of the MLRS battery with the call sign Chizh noted that the unit works day and night, but mostly in the dark, because then it is easier to defend against Ukrainian drones.
